Frequently Asked Pest Control Questions
We get it, pest control is one of those things that you probably don’t think about until you have to. So, if this is your first time working with a pest control partner (or dealing with a new pest) you might have a few questions. We’ve included some of our more common customer questions below and are always happy to discuss your specific concerns over the phone.
General Pest Control Questions
1. What should I expect from a pest control service and what areas do you treat for pests?
During a General Pest service, your fully trained and licensed pest control technician will apply pest control products throughout the entire property, which involves dusting of the roof space area and sub-floor area, and a full internal and external spray. The entire property includes window frames, doorframes, cavities, fence lines, garages, sheds, and outbuildings. The service will take approximately 1.25-1.5 hrs depending on the size of the property.
A general pest service protects your home or business from a range of pests including cockroaches, spiders, ants, and silverfish. In the event you have a live German cockroach infestation, we may recommend a German cockroach service to target this particular issue.
For a German cockroach service, we treat the kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry areas with a range of products. We use a four-step system including dust (fridge motors, behind kickboards, etc), non-repellant spray, gel bait (cupboard hinges, base of appliances), and pesticide-free sticky monitor traps. This service will take approximately 45-60 minutes.
If a very high level of German cockroach infestation is noted at the service, your technician may advise a follow-up service. This is a paid service that is carried out 3 weeks post initial service.
2. How do I prepare for a service? Should I empty my kitchen cupboards?
For a General Pest service, we do not require you to do any special preparations and kitchen cupboards need not be emptied.
Preparation is required for the services listed below. Please click on your service type to see the corresponding Service Preparation document:
3. Are the products you use safe for my children and pets?

All of the pest control products we use as part of our services are approved by the Australian Environmental Pest Management Association for use in all sensitive environments including schools, hospitals, aged care facilities, and food-handling premises.
However, for services where we are applying a pesticide in spray form, we simply ask that children, pregnant females, and pets are off-site (or removed from the areas of treatment) for the duration of the service and for approximately 1.5 hours post-service to allow for drying time. Our products are all odourless and colourless and once dry, you can continue as normal.
4. Can I stay inside the property whilst the service is taking place? How long do I need to be out the house?
Whilst all pesticide products we use are approved for use in homes and workspaces, it is advised not be in the immediate vicinity whilst a General Pest treatment is being carried out and until the products are completely dry. Many homeowners take a walk whilst we spray the interior of their property, which takes approximately 60-90 minutes depending on the service. We recommend avoiding certain areas of the property for a further 1.5 hours whilst the product dries.
As many people are working from home at the moment, it is possible for one adult to stay inside the property in a home office or bedroom if vacating is not convenient. However, children and pets must vacate the property.
However, if the treatment is for German cockroaches only, it is possible for people to remain within the property, in a bedroom or separate room whilst we treat the main harbourage areas (generally kitchens and bathrooms). For German cockroach services, we ask that these areas are vacated for the period of the treatment (45 mins) plus 1-1.5 hours drying time.
Your technician can advise you of recommendations in relation to your specific service, and can even lock up after the service if that’s more convenient for you.
5. How long does the service take?
Most general pest services take between 1-1.5 hrs. The products take a further 1-1.5 hours to dry post service (depending on the conditions on the day and the ventilation at the property).
German cockroach services take approximately 45 minutes, with an additional 1-1.5 hours drying time.
6. How long after the service until I can sweep / mop?
It is advisable to sweep/mop your floor the day before your pest treatment, as pesticide products will bind more effectively to a clean, dry surface and therefore be more effective. Please do not mop on the same day of the service as we do not want to apply products to a wet floor.
Ideally, avoid mopping the floor after the treatment for as long as possible. When you do need to clean the floor, keep in mind that the perimeter spray is generally applied to the skirting and kick boards in the kitchen, so avoiding mopping right to the edges of the floor will prolong the effectiveness of the treatment.
7. What if it’s raining on the day of my service?
The products we use are developed for Australian weather conditions, however, we adhere to a wet weather policy to provide our customers with total peace of mind. If there is heavy rain at the time of service and it is not suitable to complete the external service, we simply complete all other aspects of the service (approximately 85% can still be completed) and then arrange to return for the external service at a later date.
Note that our external spray products only need 10-15 minutes to bind to the treated surface so that the residual active constituent is left behind. These products are designed for their residual nature and ability to withstand the elements. Therefore, if it begins to rain after the 15-minute period has elapsed, the effectiveness of the exterior spray will not be altered.
Most of our services come with a 6-month warranty.
8. How often should I get my property treated for pests?
We recommend our customers get their properties treated every 6-12 months. External areas may require more frequent services.
The above recommendations are entirely dependent on your property and it’s surrounding environment, as this can vary greatly from property to property. It is also dependent on your personal tolerance for pest activity.
9. How can I pay?
You can pay your technician by credit card or cash on the day, as we have mobile EFTPOS machines. Please note all credit card transactions incur a 2.2% service charge.
10. What is the warranty period?
We are confident in our ability and the services we offer, and as such, we provide dependable 6-month warranties for the majority of our General Pest services including German Cockroaches.
However, warranty conditions and lengths may vary due to a number of factors including the type of pests treated, type of property, or hygiene and housekeeping conditions at the property. Your warranty will be confirmed in writing by your technician on the day.
No external areas are covered by a warranty. This includes non-habitable areas such as garages, sheds, and outbuildings.
Please note that warranties are in place to rectify a pest re-infestation. A sighting of one insect does not constitute a re-infestation. If a re-infestation is not observed by our technician during a warranty call-back, a $120 call-out fee may be charged.
*Please allow at least 3 weeks post-service before you activate your warranty. This window of time allows our products to have their full effect*
11. What is your Cancellation Policy?
We understand that plans can change and we always strive to be flexible when it comes to accommodating our customers’ moving schedules. However, last-minute cancellations are a significant inconvenience to our technicians, our business, and other customers who may be waiting on a suitable time slot. We appreciate your time is valuable and we ask for the same courtesy in return; please provide our office with as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or change an appointment.

Termite Control Questions
What’s the difference between a termite inspection and termite treatment?
Before we recommend any termite treatment or monitoring options, a full termite inspection of the property must be carried out first.
An experienced and fully qualified Termite Control Specialist will visit your home for a complete inspection of the building and surrounding external areas, including the use of proprietary technology for detecting termite feeding points.
Following the inspection, you will be emailed a comprehensive digital report (compliant with AS 3660.2) outlining findings and recommendations for termite control and monitoring plans moving forward. This may include treatment of active termites (baiting program) if necessary and/or installation of termite monitoring systems.
How often should I have a termite inspection?
It is recommended that all property owners have a full termite inspection every 6-12 months. Regular inspections ensure that if termites do enter your home, action can be taken before too much damage is done to the structure of your property.
